چکیده

Abstract We evaluate Beer–Lambert (BL) ray-tracing and Monte Carlo N-Particle (MCNP) photon tracking simulations for prediction comparison of x-ray imaging system performance. These simulation tools can aid the methodical design laboratory-scale particle image velocimetry (XPIV) experiments tracer particles by predicting quality. Particle signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) is used as metric Simulated experiment data hollow, silver-coated, glass sphere (AGSF-33) are compared. As predicted simulations, AGSF-33 visible with a SNR greater than unity in 100 ms exposure time images, demonstrating their potential PIV or (XPTV) tracers. The BL approach predicts contrast, computationally inexpensive, enables exploration vast parameter space design. MCNP on other hand, predict images slightly more accurately, but an order magnitude expensive simulations. For most practical XPIV applications, higher computational expense likely not justified modest accuracy improvement compared to BL.

fuzzy-based medical x-ray image classification

in this paper a novel fuzzy scheme for medical x-ray image classification is presented. in this method, any image is partitioned in to 25 overlapping subimages and then shape-texture features are extracted from shape and directional information extracted from any subimage. in the classification stage, we apply a fuzzy membership to any subimage with respect to euclidean distance between feature...

Forty Years of X-Ray Binaries

In 2012 it was forty years ago that the discovery of the first X-ray binary Centaurus X-3 became known. That same year it was discovered that apart from the High-Mass X-ray Binaries (HMXBs) there are also Low-Mass X-ray Binaries (LMXBs), and that Cygnus X-1 is most probably a black hole. By 1975 also the new class of Be/X-ray binaries was discovered. After this it took 28 years before ESAs INTE...

Simulations of X-ray Clusters

We present simulations of the formation and evolution of galaxy clusters in the Cold Dark Matter cosmogony. Clusters with a wide range of mass were selected from previous N-body models, and were resimulated at higher resolution using a combined N-body/Smooth Particle Hydrodynamics code. The eeects of radiative cooling on the gas are neglected. While many present-day clusters are predicted to be...

Evaluation of multifunctional targeted gold nanoparticles on X-ray attenuation in nasopharyngeal cancer cells by X- ray imaging

Introduction: Head-and-neck cancer is the sixth most common cancer worldwide with the number of cases consistently increasing in developing countries. Successful development of effective, safe and cost effective nanoprobes for head-and-neck cancer targeting imaging is a big challenge. This study is aimed to develop cysteamine-folate conjugated gold nanoparticles (F-Cys-AuNPs) a...
